Money just published its list of US colleges with the best value of 2018 - offering new statistical ammunition for those engaging in college affordability debates. 

The rankings consider conventional metrics like tuition, percent of student body with aid, median student debt and average "early-career earnings." They also consider more amorphous traits like quality of education, and other non-financials like six-year graduation rate.


The top 10:

1. Princeton University

  • Median SAT/ACT Score: 1500/34
  • Average student debt: $7,500
  • % with need who receive grants: 100%
  • Average early career earnings: $69,800


2. UC San Diego

  • Median Sat/ACT Score: 1310/30
  • Average student debt: $18,500
  • % with need who receive grants: 95%
  • Average early career earnings: $58,600


3. UC Irvine

  • Median Sat/ACT Score: 1200/27
  • Average student debt: $17,000
  • % with need who receive grants: 96% 
  • Average early career earnings: $54,900


4. UCLA 

  • Median Sat/ACT Score: 1320/31
  • Average student debt: $16,300
